2️. Managing Interest Rates: The Fixed Floating Dilemma (English)Â
Interest rates have been through a roller coaster the past months. As central banks were close to call victory on inflation, Trump shocked markets with radical trade policies, with “Selling America” challenging the role of US Treasury bonds as the global safe asset. Meanwhile Germany and the wider EU announced spending ambitions that could fundamentally change the long-term outlook on interest rates. In this volatile interest rates environment discussions around the fixed-floating debt ratio become very topical to balance debt positions and to stability the interest rate expense.
In this session Michiel and Tom will first draw a picture of the current interest rate environment and then zoom into the main takeaways.
Michiel Tukker | senior European Rates Strategist at ING’s Global Research & Tom Van Acker | Head Client Solutions Group – Risk Analytics team at ING
